Meetings

The London Latin Circle meets once a month, on the second Tuesday of each month. The session is led by the member who is next on an alphabetic rota, who chooses the place, topic and style of that session. All, whatever their ability in Latin, are most welcome to attend in order to participate in the discussion or just to listen.

We prefer to convene in a place that fosters a convivial approach to culture in which everyone can share, often in a pub or a restaurant; but sometimes we do take ourselves off to other locations such as academic institutions. We usually read some Latin excerpts together and talk about them, or sometimes watch a film, as well as chatting with great enjoyment about everything that entices our interest over a pint of beer or some food; we also often engage in conversation with other people sitting around us who wonder what language we are speaking so enthusiastically. You can see what things we do and what topics we discuss by looking at the informal minutes of our previous meetings.
